Infusion of the abdominal aorta with pancreatic elastase induces aneurysms in a rat model (Anidjar/Dobrin). Because elastolysis liberates elastin degradation products (EDPs), the present experiment was carried out to test the hypothesis that an EDP alone could induce features of aneurysm disease.
