Miniplates when used according to the principles of Champy offer proper stability for healing of the fracture and allow immediate function of the mandible. Second operation for removal of the plates is often unnecessary and in cases when it is, the plates can be removed in local anesthesia. Overall complication rate can be held low. However, when using this system, a good patient cooperation is needed.
