In 1989 Washington State implemented a comprehensive expansion of its Medicaid perinatal program, augmenting services, increasing provider reimbursement, and broadening eligibility. This study examines the influence of this legislation on physicians' obstetric practices and attitudes toward caring for pregnant Medicaid patients.
