A prospective study of 171 men and 406 women aged > or = 62 years showed that, at 3-year follow-up, increased serum ferritin levels did not increase the incidence of new coronary events in men or women with or without coronary artery disease. The mean serum ferritin levels were not significantly different in men with or without and in women with or without new coronary events.
