A 41-year old woman with a displaced fracture of the distal radius was operated on and a hydroxyapatite spacer inserted into the fracture. Postoperative immobilisation was instituted for only two weeks, followed by active motion. Anatomy and function were fully restored. This treatment is similar to that with bone cement, but has practical and biological advantages.
