This article provides an overview of the practice of gynecologic oncology. The mechanisms by which the disease or treatment results in a stoma are reviewed. The screening, detection, staging, and treatment of endometrial, ovarian, and cervical cancer are reviewed, as well as the special requirements of patients undergoing exenteration.
