Systemic hypercapnia alters the intraretinal pH and metabolism and profoundly affects the vitreal electroretinogram (ERG). Using intraretinal K(+)-selective microelectrodes (ISMs), the authors examined the effects of systemic hypercapnia on ERG in the intact cat eye in vivo.
