Back pain in the adolescent, though less frequent than in adults, is more likely to indicate pathology. Thus, persistent low back pain in an adolescent should not be overlooked. This article presents a case study of a 15-year-old female gymnast who experienced low back pain during practice sessions. Differential diagnosis and treatment options are discussed.
