The alteration of the ultrastructure of lungs was investigated in the course of the early shock period in the experimental burn disease. The histologic investigations of the lungs were carried out with the Philips 300 electron microscope. A stronger scaling of the surfactant of alveoli was observed in the first days after the burn. Number and size of the myelin structures in the pneumocytes typ II increased simultaneously. The walls of the capillaries were not injured. An edema of th capillary endothelium was observed frequently. The most extensive alterations of ultra structure of lungs appeared in the course of the burn disease on the first or the second day after the thermic injure.
