Experience with 33 female children who had sustained injury to the genitalia is reviewed. Twenty-four had been raped, 7 had fallen, and in 2 children injuries resulted from motor vehicle accidents. Immediate examination under anaesthesia and careful repair are advised. Rape may result in extensive injuries, but the area heals well provided the repair is carried out early and all structures are correctly approximated.
