Today there are still difficulties by differentiating of chylous pleural effusions. It is reported about two forms of chylothorax which are different in their etiology. The chyle were examined with regard to the fats. It can be shown that the thin-layer chromatography of lipids makes possible a rapid diagnostics of chylous pleural effusions.
