The normal embryonic development of the head and neck is reviewed, with emphasis on the branchial derivatives. To understand teratology and the arrested developmental disorders in otolaryngology, a knowledge of normal embryogenesis is important. A brief review of some important congenital anomalies and syndromes is presented.
