Four cases of Crohn's disease of the colon are presented in order to illustrate some of the difficulties which may arise in making a correct diagnosis. A combination of a high index of suspicion and suggestive clinical, sigmoidoscopic, radiological and histological features is necessary if the disease is not to be missed or misdiagnosed.
