Immunoblastic lymphoma developed in an 18-year-old woman during her first pregnancy. The disseminated nature of the disease was documented cytologically in samples of sputum, pleural fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, and urine, and histologically in lymph nodes, bone marrow, and peripheral blood. Successful termination of her pregnancy and aggressive chemotherapy resulted in a complete remission both clinically and cytologically. Cytologic examination of body fluids is presented as a noninvasive adjunct to conventional staging and management of patients who have malignant diseases.
