The impact of CT on the evaluation of morphological brain abnormalities, such as congenital malformations, hydrocephalus, atrophic conditions, vascular and traumatic lesions, is elucidated on the basis of a consecutive series of examinations and illustrated by typical cases. Views on the examination technique and the usefulness of contrast enhancement in certain situations are given. The greatly reduced need for conventional neuroradiological procedures is commented upon.
