The hydrodynamics of four dissolution apparatus--viz., the USP basket, the USP paddle, the stationary basket-spinning filter, and the USP disintegration apparatus, were characterized. At higher velocities, the relationship between the intrinsic dissolution rate constant and linear velocity was parabolic rather than linear.
