In transvesical prostatectomy haemostasis was achieved by the application of a modified U-shaped needle. The method was applied in 34 patients. It is suggested that the method can advantageously be applied when bleeding starts not from the loge-edge, but from the stump of the urethra or from the base of the loge. The bladder was closed by introduction of a balloon catheter and an epicystomic drain. Though the new method ensures additional advantages, it does not solve all the problems arising in connection with prostatectomies.
