We have studied some of the new products either at experiment stage, or else already on the market, used in the treatment of leg-ulcers. In terms of the way in which they act we draw a distinction between: synthetic powders with adsorbent power (Bard and Iodosorb); synthetic dressings with a semi-adsorbent power (Aloxan and Silastic); and synthetic dressings with no adsorbent power (Synthaderm). We give a personal impression of each of them, together with their indications, advantages, and disadvantages.
