A total of 106 patients with arterial hypertension were followed up during 3-5 years. Systolic and diastolic arterial pressure increased significantly. Reversal hypertrophic changes were observed in 25% with labile and in 7% of patients with established hypertension. Increase of left ventricular myocardial weight was observed in 42% and 60%, respectively. Increased myocardial weight in established hypertension was associated with the contractility decrease assessed by Vcf index.
