The immunization of rats with a formaldehyde-inactivated vaccine of the homologous infection strain does not lead to an improved tendency for an existing infection of the urinary tract to heal in the primarily infected kidney, but it can prevent it spreading to the other one. The dose is probably significant. In previously published investigations this effect did not occur after six vaccinations (11). In existing infection cyclophosphamide treatment does not prevent any possible enhancement and thus does not improve the elimination of germs.
