Five procedures using the gallbladder to re-establish biliary or biliary-digestive continuity have been described. A new technique, is presented, which was applied in a case of benign, acute cryptogenetic stenosis requiring full resection of the common hepatic duct. Owing to its theoretical advantages, this new technique may be considered when post-operative results are dependent upon the risks inherent in reflux cholangitis, as is the case in liver transplantation.
