We describe the cytologic presentation in fine needle aspirates of two examples of metastatic balloon cell melanoma. These hypervacuolated cells may be misinterpreted as adenocarcinoma or liposarcoma. Intermediate forms between the classic nonvacuolated round melanoma cell and the ballooned melanoma cell are described.
