The usefulness of metisoprinol was evaluated by a double blind study and at random in the treatment of mild infectious hepatitis in a group of 42 children. Twenty-one patients were given the drug at the dose of 50 mg/kg/day, divided t.i.d., by mouth and for 12 days. The other twenty-one patients made up the control group and were given placebo. No modifications nor clinical differences were found in the parameters evaluated; laboratory results were also negative in the studies carried out that might be attributed to the administration of the drug.
