At the beginning a systematic presentation of congenital herniations is provided. Corresponding to it, typical sonographic evidences from the number of patients examined at the clinic are shown and discussed. Consequences from prenatal diagnosis of omphaloceles and paromphaloceles--namely in regard to an indication for abortion--result from the existence of associated malformations on the one hand, for the choice of the mode of delivery, on the other, with regard to a postnatal operative correction.
