The method described was used for the intraarterial selective hemostatic therapy and resulted in a persistent arrest of bleeding in 8 of 10 patients while surgical ligation of the internal iliac arteries for hemostasis proved to be of little effect in 7 of 15 patients with bleeding carcinoma of the urinary bladder. After performing selective continuous monochemotherapy (with dioxadet, cis-platinum or adriamycin) of inoperable local carcinoma of the urinary bladder, the full or partial effect was achieved in 6 of 12 patients, and progress of the disease was noted in one patient only.
