The partially purified preparation of eta precipitinogen which is species-specific for Mycobacterium tuberculosis showed skin reaction specificity for guinea pigs sensitized with M. tuberculosis. Strains of M. tuberculosis and the conditions for cultivation for optimal production of stable eta precipitinogen preparation in a large scale were investigated. Additional purification of procedures of the partially purified preparation of eta were also investigated. The significance of eta precipitinogen in the diagnosis of mycobacterial infection is discussed.
