Antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity of human blood leukocytes was determined by use of 51chromium labelled human erythrocytes as target cells. The lytic activities of granulocytes, monocytes and lymphocytes can be defined simultaneously without the need for a separation of mononuclear cells into subpopulations. Hyperimmune-anti B-serum and immunoglobulin-anti D(Rh0) (Dessau) were used as sources for antibodies. The human granulocyte is very effective in destroying antibody-coated target cells and should therefore not be neglected in clinical studies dealing with antibody-dependent cytotoxic reactions.
