Field experience of a bovine lungworm vaccine, acquired over the past 25 years, is discussed with regard to the use of other putative parasitic vaccines. It was concluded that the parameters were generally similar to those for non-parasitic vaccines although the fact that the lungworm vaccine does not confer a parasitologically sterile immunity to challenge requires special consideration.
