The minimum body temperatures and the longest torpor bouts recorded for pygmy possums (family Burramyidae) are compared with hibernating representatives from the insectivores, rodents and Australian bats. The lowest body temperatures of pygmy possums are around 6 degrees C which is within the range of the other mammalian groups. The torpor bouts of the pygmy possums last up to two weeks and the durations are similar to those of eutherian hibernators.
