Previous studies have suggested that the -308A allele in the tumour necrosis factor-? (TNF-?) gene promoter (rs1800629) may be a potential risk factor for COPD. However, more recent findings have been inconsistent. In the present study, a meta-analysis was performed to assess the association between the TNF-?-308G/A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and the risk of COPD.
