Difficulties still remain in the routine radiologic examination of the lateral recesses of the fourth ventricle. Ventriculography with the direct introduction of water-soluble contrast medium into the third ventricle has improved the results. The normal anatomic and radiologic appearances and pathologic changes of the lateral recesses are discussed.
