Kidney transplantation is the best replacement therapy of type 2 diabetic patients and recently similar graft and patient survival between diabetic and nondiabetic recipients has been reported. However, standard immunosuppressive protocols are lacking. We present our experience with sirolimus-based immunosuppression in a population of 24 type 2 diabetic patients who underwent a kidney transplantation.
