The receptor for advanced glycation end-products (RAGEs) and its gene polymorphisms are implicated in the pathogenesis of different chronic diseases including diabetes and its complications. Infant formulas contain high amounts of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) - the ligands of RAGE.
