Knowledge of the clinical features of infections caused by Escherichia coli strains that produce plasmid-mediated AmpC beta-lactamase is limited. Of the several groups of plasmid-mediated AmpC beta-lactamases, CMY-type beta-lactamase is the most common in the United States.
