Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) causes physical plugging of large pulmonary arteries as well as a distal micro-vasculopathy. Pulmonary endothelium is an active metabolic tissue in normal humans. The effects of CTEPH on pulmonary endothelial metabolism are unknown.
