Photoreceptor-specific upregulation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in a transgenic mouse model (Kimba) of retinal neovascularisation induces retinal vascular damage which appears similar to that in diabetic retinopathy. Here we have determined whether the choroidal vasculature is also affected in Kimba.
