Uncoupling protein (UCP) 3 is a mitochondrial inner membrane protein expressed predominantly in glycolytic skeletal muscles. Its role in vivo remains poorly understood. The aim of the present work was to produce a mouse model with moderate overproduction and proper fibre-type distribution of UCP3.
