Blood platelet counts (PCs) play a role in the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The metabolic syndrome (MS) is also associated with high CVD risk. However, the connection between PCs and MS has not yet been thoroughly investigated in relation to various biosocial factors that can affect both PCs and the pathophysiology of MS.
