Myocardial function is transmurally heterogeneous. Postsystolic work may functionally reflect ischemic but viable myocardium. We calculated systolic and postsystolic regional myocardial work index (RMWi) in subendocardial and subepicardial layers of myocardium supplied by a slowly occluding coronary artery.
