The practice of gynecologic cytology requires that high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) be precisely recognized. In this regard, hyperchromatic crowded groups are known to be difficult to classify in conventional gynecologic cytology, but whether this is true in ThinPrep specimens is uncertain.
