Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) replication depends on different cellular pathways, including histone acetylation and extracellular-signal regulated kinases 1 and 2 (Erk 1/2). In the present study, the influence of therapeutic valproic acid (VPA) concentrations was investigated on HCMV replication in retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells.
