Left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy and diastolic dysfunction, which are common cardiac consequences of hypertension, are modified by insulin resistance. The present study assessed the hypothesis that primary treatment of insulin resistance may reverse such cardiac changes in hypertensive patients.
