The purpose of this study was to detect lymphatic drainage into the superior mediastinum and neck in thoracic esophageal cancer patients using ferumoxides-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and to have this information assist in determining the appropriate extent of lymphadenectomy.
