Dendritic cells (DCs) are potent antigen-presenting cells (APC) that are deeply implicated in the initiation and exacerbation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Active RA is associated with an activated DCs population as demonstrated by high expression of adhesion and co-stimulatory molecules.
