In recent clinical trials demonstrating the efficacy of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) for the acceleration of bone-healing, investigators used carriers requiring open surgery for administration. In this study, we used a nonhuman primate fibular osteotomy model to evaluate injectable rhBMP-2/carrier formulations that can be administered in closed fractures.
