Heart failure and stroke are major causes of morbidity and mortality in older people. Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors improve symptoms and survival in left ventricular systolic dysfunction. Anticoagulants are effective in stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation with aspirin being a less effective alternative.
