To investigate the role of basal nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability for platelet activation in young spontaneously hypertensive rats before onset of hypertension. Phosphorylation of the vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) in platelets was used as a sensitive monitor of in vivo NO bioavailability.
