Quality assessment measures and measures leading to more quality improvement would be more than welcome to the medical profession. The mesh of institutions and methods needs to be simplified and should then be presented in a clear and understandable way to the physician who delivers curative care. Participation in quality assuring measures must be recognised as a matter of fact by the medical profession and be desired; regulating factors or even constraints, though, will lead to counter-productive effects and thus remain unsatisfactory.
