Intratracheal instillation of bleomycin in rats has been extensively used as an animal model of pulmonary fibrosis in humans, although it produces a patchy, airway based response. We proposed that the haemodynamic sequelae of the bleomycin model might be less severe than those associated with more diffuse lung injury.
