Hyperhomocysteinemia adversely affects the endothelium, although the exact mechanism is unclear. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an inflammatory disease with a high atherothrombotic tendency. We examined whether acute hyperhomocysteinemia exacerbates endothelial and platelet dysfunction in patients with SLE.
